The US Secretary of State tells the newspaper that “it was always his plan” to serve for President Donald Trump’s full term.
“I don’t know where these things come from, to be honest,” Rubio says.
Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing sources, that Rubio had told staff he wanted to leave his post as Secretary of State. The US State Department has denied the reports.
Rubio has repeatedly been tipped as a potential 2028 presidential candidate and has reportedly discussed his future with staff following the Republicans’ disastrous election.
