Parts of Eriksbergsvägen are currently closed to allow the release of common frogs, newts and common toads. They will migrate from their wintering grounds across the road down to Ekebydalen to reach the ponds, Uppsala Municipality writes on its website.

The road section is closed to traffic from 9 pm to 1 am between March 23 and May 8.

Residents in the area have pointed out that many people are ignoring the traffic ban, and on Tuesday evening, police carried out a check there. This resulted in a number of drivers receiving fines for violating the traffic regulations.

During a previous police check on the same stretch of road at the end of April, around 20 motorists were fined.
