Many miners dead after gas explosion at mine in central Nigeria

A gas explosion has occurred at a mine in central Nigeria, local officials say.

Up to 40 miners have been confirmed dead, and about 30 more people have been taken to hospital, Aliyu Adamu Idris, a traditional leader in the area, told AFP.
