Goalkeeper star Manuel Neuer is quitting the German national football team. The 38-year-old has played a total of 124 international matches, almost half of them as captain.

Neuer was goalkeeper when Germany won the World Championship gold in 2014.

Earlier, Toni Kroos, Thomas Müller and Ilkay Gündogan have also chosen to end their national team careers after this summer's European Championship on home soil.
