Last season, Viktor Gyökeres was Arsenal's top scorer (14 goals in 36 games) as the Gunners won the league for the first time since 2003-04. But this season, he has only been able to play as a substitute - at best - in the league.
Away to Nottingham Forest, the Swedish national team star had to settle for coming on in the 66th minute.
It looked like Arsenal would have to settle for a 0-0 draw, but Noni Madueke, who came on at half-time, scored the winner in the 80th minute.
Arsenal have thus won six of their seven games at the start of the season and are second behind league leaders Manchester City.
Just one win for United
Manchester United finished third last season, but the start of the autumn has been tough for the big club.
The 1-1 draw in the rivalry match against Leeds means Manchester United have still won only one match in the Premier League.
Coach Michael Carrick, who took over in January, has been criticized. Earlier this week, star defender Lisandro Martínez saw his side’s lead significantly reduced after a 0-2 away defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The Argentine apologized and was included in the starting lineup against Leeds. But Manchester United’s difficult start to the season continues. Bryan Mbeumo made it 1-0, but Leeds - with Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson playing the whole game - came back to level at 1-1 at the start of the second half.
“Not perfect”
Manchester United have thus won only one of the seven opening rounds and are in the bottom half of the table - already 14 points behind leaders, city rivals Manchester City.
"I felt before the game that the players were ready. It wasn't perfect and we weren't exactly at a high level of confidence, but the players tried to do the right things," Carrick told Sky Sports.
