Already in the fifth minute, Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was sent off after tripping Bryan Mbeumo who was driving towards the goal.

Ten minutes later, United's team captain Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock to 1–0. The goal was VAR-checked for offside but was ultimately approved.

In the 37th minute, Casemiro extended the lead for the Manchester team when he came running at the far post and headed in the ball from Harry Maguire.

When five minutes had passed of stoppage time, goal scorer Casemiro received his second yellow card and the match's second red card was a fact.

The second half was a tough battle on the rain-soaked grass.

In the 80th minute, Trevoh Chalobah reduced the score for Chelsea, when the 26-year-old became very alone in United's penalty area and could head in Reece James' fine cross to 1–2.

Chelsea went for an equalizer but did not manage to score another goal despite seven minutes of stoppage time, and Manchester United took three points.

"The Red Devils” are ninth in the Premier League, Chelsea sixth.
