Manchester United Trail Aston Villa 4-2 After Nightmare Starts to Both Halves

Manchester United's crisis continues. After nightmare starts to both halves, United are trailing Aston Villa 4-2 at home.

First Alysson scored in the first minute. Then Nicolas Jackson added to the score in the fourth minute, getting to the rebound first.

The rain poured down on Old Trafford, and the already hard-pressed Manchester United manager Michael Carrick could not help but laugh.

Manchester United had already made their worst start to the league in 40 years and were in the relegation zone before the match.

Bruno Fernandes reduced the deficit to 1-2 from the penalty spot after 15 minutes. Youri Tielemans equalised to make it 2-2 just before half-time.

But the start of the second half was very reminiscent of the first for Manchester United. John McGinn made it 3-2 for Aston Villa from the penalty spot in the 48th minute, and five minutes later Leon Goretzka made it 4-2 for the visitors after a weak intervention by Leny Yoro in the Manchester United defence.

The match is underway.
