Manchester City took three important points in the hunt for a place in the European Championship next year, when they defeated Wolverhampton with 1–0.
For the first time since the foot injury on March 30, City star Erling Braut Haaland was in a match squad. He was up and warming up in the second half, but there were no playing minutes.
Instead, it was Kevin De Bruyne, who will leave City after the season, who got to be the match hero. He scored the only goal in the 35th minute – in his second-to-last home game at Etihad Stadium.
With the win, Manchester City climbed up to third place in the table, although with one more game played than the other teams chasing European Championship places.
