The last season Manchester City were too slow out from the dressing room to kickoff on a total of nine occasions. Now they are being penalized with fines of nearly 14 million kronor.

One of the reasons for the harsh punishment is the advertising revenue that Premier League loses when TV broadcasts do not keep to the schedule.

”The rules regarding kick-off and restart contribute to ensuring that the competition organization maintains the highest possible professional standard and contributes to safety for fans and participating clubs. It also ensures that the broadcast of each Premier League match keeps to the schedule”, writes Premier League in a statement.

Manchester City have had a tough year. The former champions only came third in Premier League and were eliminated from Champions League in the round of 16. In addition, they are being investigated on 115 points for having breached Premier League's and Uefa's rules regarding Financial Fair Play.
