It was The Athletic that reported on Friday that Manchester City had been found guilty of 114 out of 115 counts of violating the Premier League's financial regulations.
Since then, there have been many reactions, and now City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak is saying that one should not draw hasty conclusions.
"The Premier League process still has a long way to go. Our confidence and our intention to prove the club's innocence is just as strong as when this began," he wrote in a statement on City's website.
Khaldoon al-Mubarak further writes that nothing has changed and that they will get through this challenge as well.
"There are many who want to undermine the club's momentum. We will never allow that."
The offences are said to have occurred between 2009 and 2018. The range of penalties includes everything from a reprimand and a fine to points deductions - and even relegation from the Premier League. In the event of points deductions, the team could also lose titles.
