In May 2025 a man in his 40s locked a woman in an apartment south of Stockholm. He raped and beat her, and she managed to call for help.
He was arrested by police a week later but was acquitted in the district court. The verdict was appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal, where he has now been convicted of aggravated rape and kidnapping, according to the police website.
He was sentenced to six years in prison and deportation and is prohibited from returning to Sweden.
