The murder occurred at the end of December last year. It was discovered when the rescue service was trying to extinguish a house fire in a town outside Kramfors. A 65-year-old man was found dead in the house.
The man now convicted and the deceased were friends and had been together the night before the fire. They began arguing, after which the 65-year-old man was beaten severely and died of his injuries.
The younger man then placed a sleeping bag over the body and set it on fire. He was convicted of murder, arson and aggravated trespassing.
