"I need to come out with this information so as not to fuel any theories or rumors," says senior prosecutor Josefin Sävlund.
The man will be formally removed from the investigation.
During these days, extensive investigative measures have been carried out and therefore the picture of what happened has become clearer, says the prosecutor.
At this point, the circumstances suggest that this is not two cases of murder, but one. The person suspected is the woman who is no longer alive.
Great attention
The reason she is releasing the information is the attention the events have received in the media and that the man who was arrested has now been released.
She emphasizes that the suspicions against the man were of a lower degree and that it does not take much to reach that level of suspicion.
The man's lawyer, Eric Jernryd, says in a message to TT that "this is a very tragic incident," and that he has no other comments.
"Please respect relatives and others concerned."
The investigation is now continuing.
There are still further investigative measures to be taken, and among other things, it is the forensic part that will take some additional time.
When the child did not come to school on Tuesday morning, the police were contacted. The woman and the child, who was under 15 years old, were found in the home.
The man was arrested the same day and later held as a reasonable suspect for two murders.
Flowers and candles
The news of the deaths caused great emotion in Hörby. Hörby residents flocked to a memorial site outside the home with flowers and candles. The municipality's crisis support was activated and schools invested in extra preparedness and staffing to meet the children's concerns.
At the same time, intensive investigation work was underway by the police, which has now led to the man being cleared of suspicion.
