A man has been shot with several shots in Vårby south of Stockholm. The man has been taken to hospital by ambulance and is seriously injured.

We have found a man who is shot, hit by several shots, we have also found a suspected crime scene and it is not exactly the same place where we found the shot person, but he has somehow got somewhere, says Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the police to TT.

The police do not want to disclose the man's exact age.

It is an adult person, says Österling.

The police have cordoned off the suspected crime scene. The injured person has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The man was able to speak during the ambulance journey, but is seriously injured, according to the police.

We have an extensive search for the perpetrator or perpetrators in several municipalities in southern Stockholm, says Österling.

No one is currently arrested. The incident is classified as attempted murder and serious weapons offense.

One or more people have been seen leaving the scene.

The police are conducting interviews with several witnesses and are reviewing camera surveillance. They have also tracked with a dog around the scene. Technicians are on their way.

We have made some findings that confirm that it is the crime scene we have found, says Österling, and adds that he cannot go into what type of findings it is.

The alarm came at 22.10.
