Man shot by police outside Stockholm’s Royal Palace remanded in custody

The knife-wielding man shot by police outside the Royal Palace in Stockholm last week has been remanded in custody, Mitt i reports.

The man, who is in his 30s, is suspected on probable grounds of a serious violation of the Knife Act and a serious threat against a public servant, the newspaper reports.

His injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening.

"My impression is that he was shot in the leg, I don't know how many times. There is also information that a stun gun was used, but I can't swear that he was hit by it," prosecutor Svante Alm told Mitt i.

The man denies the crime.

The police's actions are being investigated by the Special Prosecution Office.
