A 65-year-old man has been stabbed and seriously injured in Västerås. The police have arrested a suspected man. The incident is classified as attempted murder, reports VLT.
At 19:00 on Saturday, the alarm was raised that there was blood in a stairwell in the Viksäng district.
The police found an injured man in the stairwell.
He has been stabbed with a sharp object in the chest area, says Joar Källman, commander at the police's regional command center, to TT.
The man, who was conscious, was taken to hospital by ambulance.
According to Region Västmanland, he is seriously injured, but his condition is stable. He is undergoing emergency surgery.
The suspected man, who is in his 60s, was arrested near the location where the man was found. An apartment has been sealed off for a technical investigation.
