During the day, a car drove off the E4 and into a ditch near Vikingstad. Two people were taken to hospital after the incident.
Region Östergötland later announced that an adult man was seriously injured and is in intensive care.
According to the police, the driver of the car, a 75-year-old man, is suspected of reckless driving.
