The man slaughtered the sheep in his basement – with only an over-the-counter ointment for insect bites as anesthesia. Now, Eksjö District Court is sentencing the man to six months in prison, reports P4 Jönköping.
It was a neighbor who alerted the police, who later found four slaughtered animals in the basement.
The man, who is in his 40s, initially claimed that he had used an ointment to anesthetize the animals. In later questioning, he changed his story to say that he had used a stun gun. The District Court is nonetheless convicting him of gross animal cruelty.
