At the same time, a co-defendant was acquitted by Kalmar District Court.
The events were secretly filmed by the Animal Rights Alliance and the material was published by TV4's Kalla fakta.
The man who was convicted is seen, among other things, placing a lit cigarette in the mouth of a sedated calf. But the district court says it is not proven that the animal was subjected to suffering. However, the man was convicted of putting a shaft down a cow's throat, which he said was "just for fun."
According to the indictment, the animals lived in dirt and were emaciated. However, the district court does not believe that the film material is sufficient evidence for this and therefore the co-defendant was acquitted.
