The man who killed 35 people by driving into a crowd in Zhuhai in southern China has been sentenced to death.
“(The court) publicly tried the case with the defendant for endangering public safety through dangerous methods and announced a verdict the same day. The man was sentenced to death,” reported the state-owned TV company CCTV.
The incident occurred at a sports arena at the end of November. The motive behind the deed was said to be that the man was dissatisfied with a divorce.
According to an eyewitness, groups of people had gathered to exercise at the facility when a car suddenly drove into them at high speed. Over 40 people were injured.
