The crime occurred in June when the woman woke up to the man standing over her with a knife. She then received several stabs to the stomach, back and hands. The couple's children were also in the apartment and witnessed the incident.
The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested a day after the incident. On Friday, he was convicted by the district court for attempted murder and serious violation of the children's peace. The sentence is eleven years in prison and deportation.
The man must also pay damages to the woman and the child totaling 331,400 kronor.
