In February this year, a 37-year-old man stabbed his girlfriend in a residence in Västerås. Now he is sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder, reports P4 Västmanland.
He is also to pay 300,000 kronor in damages to the woman.
She received several stab wounds to the upper body and could, according to Västmanland District Court, have died if she had not quickly received care.
The man has admitted to the stabbing, but claims to have acted in self-defense. The District Court, however, does not consider that the man was in a self-defense situation.
