Despite having made death threats and having an alcohol problem, the man was placed on community service at a local football club that worked with children. Just weeks later, he killed an ambulance nurse in Harmånger.

The Prison and Probation Service had assessed that he was unsuitable for community service, reports SVT Skåne.

It feels like the Prison and Probation Service has obscured his background," says Pehr Andersson, chairman of Harmånger IF, to SVT.

The 26-year-old had been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for assaulting and threatening to kill a close relative.

The man began his community service but dropped out shortly thereafter. Just four days before the murder, he was called to a new meeting to resume his service.

"If we had known more, we might have said no," says Pehr Andersson.
