The man is suspected of particularly serious drug offenses, including serious drug smuggling and aiding and abetting attempted murder.
The important thing is that he is deprived of his liberty and thus his criminal actions are also, at least for the time being, prevented, says Police Chief Anders Wiberg, head of the international unit at Noa, to TT.
The man, who is neither a Turkish nor a Swedish citizen, is expected to be extradited to Sweden after a legal process that, according to Wiberg, could take a long time.
"It's good when we advance our positions in the world. We work tirelessly regardless of whether you are inside or outside Sweden's borders," he says.
