The man ended up in the river just before 8 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday, the police announced that he had died and that his relatives had been notified.

It is unclear how the man ended up in the water. The police have therefore opened a preliminary investigation into involuntary manslaughter and are asking for help in obtaining witness information, police spokesperson Stefan Larsson says.

It's a time and place where there are a lot of people moving around, so there may be someone who has seen something that can lead us forward to why this man ended up in the water, he says.
