The man lives in the Stockholm area and is suspected of being involved in circles linked to violent right-wing extremism. According to prosecutor Henrik Olin, the Security Police have been interested in the man for a long time.
"I can't say anything about the details of what type of organization it is at this early stage. In Sweden we don't have a system for classifying organizations as terrorist organizations, so it will be up to the court to make an assessment," Henrik Olin told TT.
The man is in his 20s, and the crimes are said to have been committed in Stockholm County and elsewhere in the country from November last year until the man was arrested on Wednesday, which Expressen first reported.
"There is no concrete plan for an attack, so the crime classification would have been different. But all people connected to terrorist organizations pose an element of danger," says prosecutor Henrik Olin.
A decision has been made that the detainee will undergo a brief forensic psychiatric examination because there are suspicions of mental illness.
The man has no previous convictions.
