The murder is described as particularly ruthless because it was a crime against an elderly, weakened person.
The man was found injured in a home in a small town in Skurup municipality in early September. According to the indictment, he had been stabbed several times.
He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The alarm came from home care staff, who found him with injuries.
Kristina Wedelsbäck, a prosecutor, says the accused had no known relationship with the victim.
However, he can be linked to a burglary at the elderly man's home about two years ago.
You can imagine he got wind that it was easy to get in there, and that's what made him go back in, Wedelsbäck says.
The accused man denies the crime.
