The murder is described as particularly ruthless because it is a crime against an elderly and weakened person.
The man was found injured in a home in a small town in Skurup municipality in early September. According to the indictment, he was stabbed several times.
He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The alarm came from home care staff, who found him with injuries.
Kristina Wedelsbäck, a prosecutor, says that the accused man had no known relationship with the victim.
However, he can be linked to a burglary in the elderly man's home about two years ago.
"You can imagine that he got wind that it was easy to get in there, and that's what made him go back in," says Wedelsbäck.
The man, in his 20s, denies the crime.
