A man in his 20s who, according to Ystad District Court, murdered an 80-year-old man in Skurup municipality in September has been found dead in custody, Ystads Allehanda writes.
The court had concluded on Thursday that the man was guilty of murder, and he would undergo a forensic psychiatric examination before a sentence was determined.
However, on Friday night, he was found dead in the Ystad detention center.
"This whole story, from beginning to end, is just so damn sad. In my years as a prosecutor, I have never experienced a similar situation," prosecutor Kristina Wedelsbäck told the newspaper.
The police were at the detention center on Friday to "take investigative measures," writes Ystads Allehanda.
