The crime is alleged to have continued for almost a year.
The crime of honor oppression was introduced in June 2022 and is similar in structure to the crime of breach of the peace, in that it involves a series of crimes that together constitute the crime.
These may include crimes against life and health, sexual crimes and defamation committed for honor-related motives. Unlike crimes of breach of the peace, however, the crimes do not have to be directed against a close relative.
The maximum penalty for the crime is six years in prison.
