"We are investigating all possible angles right now. We believe it could have been a misfire, but we do not rule out that it could have been something else," prosecutor Elsa Karlberg told TT.

The 36-year-old man, who is now in custody, was arrested on Wednesday morning after previously being arrested in his absence. He is not a resident of the Stockholm area.

"We suspect that he is the shooter. Film footage and witness statements, among other things, have led us to that conclusion," Karlberg says.

The man denies the crime.

"My client denies any involvement in this. But the district court has found that there is probable cause at this time," says the 36-year-old's lawyer, Marko Tuhkanen.

The shooting took place in Bagarmossen, in southern Stockholm, on Friday afternoon, October 23. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was shot near a car in a residential area and later died from his injuries.
