At 6 a.m. this morning, SOS was alerted that a person had fallen from the quay into the water. The man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
At 11:30 a.m., police told the newspaper that the man's condition had stabilized somewhat.
A man was arrested at the scene, and prosecutors have decided during the day that the suspect should be detained after questioning.
"We have formally initiated a criminal investigation that is classified as attempted murder," says Ola Österling, press spokesperson for the police, to Helagotland.
