"It is no longer considered possible to find the person concerned alive," Norway's main rescue center writes in a post on X.
A large-scale Norwegian rescue operation was launched after the Bahamian-flagged ship Alfa Baltica sent out a mayday call. A rescue helicopter was dispatched, and a Norwegian ship turned around to join the search.
The ship is en route from the oil refinery at Mongstad, Norway, to Lithuania.
