The drowning alert at a swimming area in Hökarängen came at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter, according to Mitt i Stockholm, but four hours later the police announced that he had died.
No crime is suspected.
It is a tragic accident, police spokesman Robert Sennerdal tells TT.
