Witness statements from the night indicate that it may be an accident, says the police's press spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
The man, who was in his 60s, was out walking his dog when he, according to initial reports, got into a fight with several people.
The police received an alarm about some kind of fight near Stenkulaskolan in Malmö at 9 pm. During a search of the area, the injured man was found, who was taken to hospital, where he was later reported to be dead.
Whether the fight that witnesses sounded the alarm about has a connection to the presumed accident is unclear, says Evelina Olsson.
Since the circumstances surrounding the death are unclear, it is classified as murder.
