The man was injured when another man attacked him with a sharp object, in Olskroken, on Friday morning. He has now died from his injuries.
No one has been arrested for the violent act and what is behind it is unclear.
We actually do not know, except that the rescue service is alerted to the scene and encounters a injured person who is taken to hospital, says investigation leader Göran Sundström.
The deceased man came from a smaller town in western Sweden and was, according to the police, on a temporary visit to Gothenburg. He was not previously known to the police.
He was found on the street. It was people who noticed some kind of brawl and that a person collapsed on the street and sounded the alarm. But we do not know why this happened.
