A man in his 20s was shot dead in a car in Malmö late Friday night. Police are investigating possible gang connections, but no suspect has been arrested yet.

The alarm was received just before 11 p.m. on Friday night and shortly thereafter a man was found shot in a car.

He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead there, says Thomas Söderberg, officer on duty at the police regional command center.

The man who was shot was previously known to the police.

Several people were in the car when it was shot at and police have interviewed at least one of them. No other injuries have come forward at any nearby hospitals. The incident is being investigated as murder and attempted murder, but no suspects have been arrested at this time.

According to Tomas Söderberg, it was clear early on that the place where the man was found was not where the shooting had taken place. About half an hour after the alarm call, a search began in an area a few kilometers away.

We found broken glass and other things that make us suspect that we have found the crime scene, says Tomas Söderberg.
