Man convicted of front running in stock trading case, fined and ordered to pay damages

The man was convicted of so-called "front running", which means that he received unpublished information about a company from a bank. The information was used to manipulate the share price, and the man then traded the stock off-market, according to the prosecutor.

"I expect that more similar prosecutions for 'front running' will come," says Jan Leopoldson.

The man was sentenced by the Stockholm District Court to a suspended sentence and fines totaling 80,000 kronor. He must also pay damages and a corporate fine of more than half a million kronor.
