The 20-year-old rape came to light after the man, who is in his 50s, was arrested last fall on suspicion of sexual crimes against another child.
The man denies the crime but, according to the court, gave a vague account that appears to be an afterthought, while the woman who reported the crime provided credible information. In connection with the offence, the man also gave the victim an expensive gift, which the court found disturbing.
In addition to the rape from 20 years ago, he was also convicted of two counts of aggravated sexual assault against a child that occurred last year. He was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison and ordered to pay 315,000 kronor in damages. The verdict was announced on Wednesday.
