The newspaper's account has approximately 100,000 followers. Some of the followers debated with the man who in turn developed his thoughts.

According to Sydsvenskan, he briefly stated that drag queens have a habit of visiting women's toilets to rape women, and also meant that it is inappropriate for drag queens to meet children.

The man, who is in his 75th year, is sentenced to day fines and will have to pay a total of 17,440 kronor, including court costs and compensation to the crime victim fund.

In 2019, stronger protection for trans people was introduced through an amendment to the Penal Code. The legislative change means that transgender identity or expression was added to the grounds for discrimination for the crime of incitement against a group of people.
