The incident occurred in February last year, when a 25-year-old man and his girlfriend had sex. He then took a very hard grip around the woman's neck so that she suffered a heart attack. The man initiated heart and lung resuscitation and the emergency services later got the woman's heart started.

The woman was treated in hospital for several weeks with life-threatening injuries.

The man is convicted by Umeå District Court for assault and gross bodily harm, and the sentence will be probation with a special treatment plan.

“The other and more serious injuries he caused 'only' through conscious negligence. The total value of the crime is therefore significantly lower than if he had intended to do everything”, the court writes in the verdict.

He will also pay damages to the woman of approximately 219,000 kronor. The man has denied both charges.
