A man with Turkish citizenship is being prosecuted for unauthorized access to a protected object after being found inside the Muskö base in the Stockholm archipelago, writes Nynäshamnsposten.
The incident occurred in April 2023. From the preliminary investigation, it appears that the man drove through a red light and slipped in through the gate when another car was on its way out.
He then drove several hundred meters inside the base before being stopped and arrested.
Now the man, who is registered in Nynäshamn, is being prosecuted for unauthorized access to a protected object. He admits in interrogation that he was at the site, but denies that the intent should be criminal – instead, he claims that he was there to fish and did not understand the signs.
The man was arrested the day before the former US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin visited Muskö and the naval base.
