A 32-year-old man in Östersund is charged with opening fire on several police officers this summer.

He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated threat against an official, aggravated sabotage against blue light operations and weapons offenses.

The man is suspected of first calling and threatening to murder police officers. When he was about to be arrested for the suspected threats, he shot five police officers who were going to pick him up.

Neither the suspected perpetrator nor any police officer were injured, but according to the prosecution, it was only due to fortuitous circumstances that nothing worse happened. One shot allegedly hit one of the police officers' ballistic shields, and the man also failed to fire a second weapon.

During the operation, several rifles and revolvers, ammunition, gunpowder and protective equipment were seized.
