A man in his 60s is being charged with the double murder in Klippan. He has no connection to the couple, who are described as "randomly selected."

The investigation has not been able to determine the motive, says prosecutor Kristin Vernet.

It was at the beginning of May last year that a couple in their 70s were found dead in their home in Klippan, Skåne.

According to the indictment, the man now charged forced his way into the couple's home by breaking a window. They died from severe and repeated violence, primarily to their heads.

The man has no connection to the couple and no motive has yet been established. He has neither denied nor admitted to the crime.

"What we can say is that there is no sign it was a planned act. There is also no financial motive. The victims' valuables were left in their home," Vernet says.
