In the end of February, the Swedish Customs made a record-large seizure of amphetamine. Now, a 46-year-old truck driver is charged with particularly serious narcotics smuggling, writes the agency in a press release.
The man is suspected of having tried to smuggle in approximately 363 kilograms of narcotics, of which 351 kilograms of amphetamine, in a truck from Germany to Malmö. There were also nine kilograms of heroin and three kilograms of cocaine in the vehicle.
”The customs officer experienced the driver as nervous and chose to do a more thorough check of the cargo,” says Ingrid Lamberth, group manager at the Swedish Customs' criminal division south, in the press release.
The value of the narcotics is estimated at approximately 80 million kronor.
”This is the largest individual seizure of amphetamine that the Swedish Customs has ever made,” says Lamberth.
