The man who died was employed as a police officer in Sweden, but was not on duty when the assault occurred at a big-screen event at Islands Brygge during the World Cup on June 30.
According to the prosecutor, the Swedish man received a strong punch to the left side of his head or neck. The blow caused, among other things, a ruptured artery and the man died three days later.
The 31-year-old man is also charged with assault for throwing two beer cans at a group of people, including the Swedish man. Another person was hit.
The charges have been brought under the lesser provision of the Penal Code regarding minor violence. The prosecutor in the case has previously said that the 31-year-old man faces between eight and ten months in prison, which is a significantly shorter sentence than if he had been charged with aggravated violence.
There, the punishment can also be increased when the victim dies as a result of the violence. One explanation is believed to be that it was a single blow.
The trial will take place on October 7 at Copenhagen District Court.
