Man arrested - suspected of poisoning baby food

The baby food came from German manufacturer Hipp, which recalled the entire range after suspicions of poisoning arose. It was later confirmed that one can contained 15 milligrams of rat poison.

Since then, four more poisoned cans have been discovered in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

According to police, the man who has now been arrested is believed to have poisoned the cans to blackmail the company. He is formally suspected of knowingly endangering the public and of attempted aggravated assault.
