A 45-year-old man was arrested and detained overnight, suspected of murder in Kramfors, the police write on their website.
The detainee is reasonably suspected, which is the lower degree of suspicion.
The police were alerted to an assault outdoors at 18.42 on Tuesday evening. A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital, but later died of his injuries.
The police currently see no links to gang criminality and state that an intensive investigative work is underway to determine what happened.
