The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested on Tuesday, the day after the fire.
The fire in Hjärup, located between Malmö and Lund, was reported on Monday evening when smoke was seen coming from an apartment. It quickly spread to the attic and roof, which later collapsed.
Residents of five apartments were evacuated.
