The man was arrested just before midnight on Thursday night after a major police operation in the archipelago involving naval police and helicopters.
This man, who is in his 50s, tried to hide when we found him, says Marcus Björling, press spokesperson for the Stockholm Police.
He had made his way to a nearby island.
The woman, who was also in her 50s, was found dead in a home in Värmdö municipality on Tuesday. Police are not looking for any additional suspects.
Prosecutor Emma Olsson tells Aftonbladet that they do not yet have a motive, but that the man has made certain admissions when confronted with suspicion of murder.
But he hasn't provided much information.
