"The arrested person has been a leader in networks based in Western Sweden, networks with significant violent resources," says Anders Wiberg, head of the international unit, in a comment.
The man has been detained in absentia since February 2025 and is wanted at the request of Swedish prosecutors for serious drug crimes and drug smuggling.
In November 2024, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates signed two bilateral agreements on extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters.
